Free Insulation Grants UK 2026: Loft, Cavity Wall & Solid Wall

Could your home be insulated for free? Poor insulation is one of the biggest reasons UK homes waste energy — and money. If your home has an EPC rating of D or below, you may qualify for free insulation grants covering loft insulation, cavity wall insulation or solid wall insulation. Which schemes fund free insulation? ECO4 Under ECO4, eligible households can receive free loft, cavity wall and solid wall insulation alongside other measures like boiler upgrades and heating controls. You may qualify if you receive a qualifying benefit (such as Universal Credit or Pension Credit) and your property is rated EPC D–G. Households not on benefits may still qualify through the LA Flex route via their council. Warm Homes: Local Grant The Warm Home Grant can fund up to £15,000 of improvements per household in England, including all major insulation types. You may qualify with a household income of £36,000 or less, qualifying benefits, or by living in an eligible postcode area. Availability depends on your local council.
